Michael Sams Earns 2020 Agent of the Year Award
Michael Sams, a senior market insurance agent for Sams/Hockaday & Associates, has earned the 2020 Agent of the Year Award. This is Michael’s 8th time receiving the award (Michael also received the award in 2011 and 2014-2019).
"Amid such a crazy year with the pandemic, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude," he says. “So many businesses are struggling – I think of restaurants and performers, especially – and I am truly humbled and grateful that we were able to continue serving the needs of our clients.”
Michael says helping seniors understand Medicare and retirement is an incredible thing to be a part of.
“I get a tremendous amount of satisfaction from my career. When I can simplify the complexities of Medicare for someone and see a lightbulb go off – that’s what it’s all about,” he explains.

Medicare Seminars in a Pandemic Year
In 2020, Michael started hosting monthly Medicare seminars at his family ranch.
“Even during a pandemic, people are looking for advice and professional opinions about their Medicare and retirement plan. I’d rather give people a choice to come to the ranch than stop servicing our community altogether,” he explains.
Michael takes all the recommended precautions at his seminars, including hand sanitizer stations, social distancing where all seating is 6 feet apart, and optional face masks.
“I get to meet so many great people, and I’m super excited and grateful for the opportunity to do educational seminars that allow people to get some clarity about their healthcare plans,” he says.
